Proofmail is an email verification API operated as a small independent service.
What we process
- Addresses you submit for verification. We look up DNS records and run a live SMTP dialogue against the recipient's mail server. The address and the resulting verdict are cached for a limited time so repeat lookups are fast and so we don't hammer other people's mail servers. Cached results expire automatically.
- API keys and usage counters. Needed for authentication and plan quotas.
- IP addresses on the public demo. Used only for rate limiting; the demo has no signup, no analytics scripts, no ad trackers and no third-party requests.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or share submitted addresses or verification results with anyone.
- We don't send mail to the addresses you verify — the SMTP dialogue stops before any message is transmitted.
- We don't build marketing lists from customer data.
Data removal
Write to the address below and we'll purge cached results for your addresses or delete your account data entirely.
